This month has been a bit of a rough one! After mastering our schedule of feelings etc. we ran into a roadblock. Max began projectile vomiting after feelings and it got to the point where we had to turn to the doctor for help. Our doctor thought he may have pyloric stenosis, a consisting causing narrowing in the intestine (more common in boys). Treatment for this would require surgery. After a week of going to the doctor almost every day they attributed it to reflux and his fast eating. Thankfully he wouldn't have to have surgery but be had a lot of changes to make. We had to do a lot of extra burping and more frequent feedings. One night as directed by our doctor we fed him one ounce every hour for the entire day! Talk about no sleep, we were exhausted! It wasn't all bad though this month we noticed such a change in our baby! He has began trying to hold his head up, following us, recognizing voices, smiling, and "talking." He may not have enjoyed it but the hour a day of tummy time has done so much for his development!
Fun things we did this month:
- We went on some of our first outings, including a few trips to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the cowboys games.
- We got our first real Christmas tree!
- We went to church for the first time! Max loved the music :)
- We celebrated my mom aka grandmas birthday with an overnight trip to St.Louis!
- Great grandma and grandpa watched Max all day while I took Dustin on a college visit. They were so proud that he didn't even have to have his clothes changed once!
- Max went to work with daddy so that mommy could get some cleaning done!
My must haves for moms:
- Tummy time play mat with toys and lights. Max is fascinated by the flashing lights :)
- Boppy pillow: great to start sitting more upright in and feedings
- Video monitor for the crib! Our is by sonny and we both have apps for our phones so we can watch, hear, and even talk to him.
- Gripe water: an all natural medicine that soothes tummys and relieves hiccups. This stuff was a life saver for us!
- Burt's bees diaper cream
- Swaddles or swaddle blankets (we like to use the cheaters with velcro)! Max sleeps so ,uch better when he is wrapped up tight!
- Rock n play!!! Can't say enough good things about this. Max doesn't like the bouncy seat but loves the rock n play. He sleeps, plays, and hangs out in it when I am doing things at home. It has also been great to travel with because it folds up flat!
- Ergo Baby pack! This is a baby pack that Brad's cousins told me was a must have and it is! It s great for holding him while doing things around the house and shopping. It allows both hands to be free and this brand has an infant insert for smaller babies like Max.
