2 Months

This month has been a bit of a rough one! After mastering our schedule of feelings etc. we ran into a roadblock. Max began projectile vomiting after feelings and it got to the point where we had to turn to the doctor for help. Our doctor thought he may have pyloric stenosis, a consisting causing narrowing in the intestine (more common in boys). Treatment for this would require surgery. After a week of going to the doctor almost every day they attributed it to reflux and  his fast eating. Thankfully he wouldn't have to have surgery but be had a lot of changes to make. We had to do a lot of extra burping and more frequent feedings. One night as directed by our doctor we fed him one ounce every hour for the entire day! Talk about no sleep, we were exhausted! It wasn't all bad though this month we noticed such a change in our baby! He has began trying to hold his head up, following us, recognizing voices, smiling, and "talking." He may not have enjoyed it but the hour a day of tummy time has done so much for his development!

Fun things we did this month:
- We went on some of our first outings, including a few trips to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the cowboys games.
- We got our first real Christmas tree!
- We went to church for the first time! Max loved the music :)
- We celebrated my mom aka grandmas birthday with an overnight trip to St.Louis!
- Great grandma and grandpa watched Max all day while I took Dustin on a college visit. They were so proud that he didn't even have to have his clothes changed once!
- Max went to work with daddy so that mommy could get some cleaning done!

My must haves for moms:
- Tummy time play mat with toys and lights. Max is fascinated by the flashing lights :)
- Boppy pillow: great to start sitting more upright in and feedings
- Video monitor for the crib! Our is by sonny and we both have apps for our phones so we can watch, hear, and even talk to him.
- Gripe water: an all natural medicine that soothes tummys and relieves hiccups. This stuff was a life saver for us!
- Burt's bees diaper cream
- Swaddles or swaddle blankets (we like to use the cheaters with velcro)! Max sleeps so ,uch better when he is wrapped up tight!
- Rock n play!!! Can't say enough good things about this. Max doesn't like the bouncy seat but loves the rock n play. He sleeps, plays, and hangs out in it when I am doing things at home. It has also been great to travel with because it folds up flat!
- Ergo Baby pack! This is a baby pack that Brad's cousins told me was a must have and it is! It s great  for holding him while doing things around the house and shopping. It allows both hands to be free and this brand has an infant insert for smaller babies like Max.

1 Month

Over this past month we have learned so much as parents and watched our little angel grow like crazy! We spent the first week as parents in the hospital with Max, as Max spent his days in an incubator under lights to heal his jaundice. We finally got to take him home a week after he was born.  Being home was an adjustment, as he was not happy with being out of his incubator and having to sleep in his crib. We were worried about how our dogs would react but they were great. They love him more than I could have imagined and our lab, blitz, won't leave his side. We learned he loves to eat, swing, take baths, and of course sleep! He dislikes sleeping in his crib, getting changed, and tummy time. We had a few sleepless nights but for the most part he was an angel! By the end of the month when we took him to the doctor he weighed a whopping 8 pounds 11 ounces!!!

Fun things we did this month:
- Halloween! Max dressed up as Yoda and we went to the doctor and my parents house... Not much since he is so young but we definitely celebrate his first Halloween :)
- We visited with his aunt Teri and Katie while she was home from college
- We traveled to St.Louis for newborn pictures
- Max was visited by his god parents, Megan & Tony, all the way from Toledo, Ohio. He loved the goodies they brought him and of course cuddling up to them when they held him.
- He spent a busy Thanksgiving day with family in Forsyth and Springfield
- Max spent the day with the Patton's while mommy and daddy went to the Maroa-Forsyth state football game! He loved it especially spending time with his girlfriend Audrey! Also... Aunt Ashley took one for the team and got spit up on! Sorry Ash...
- He spent lots of time cuddling with his grandparents and great grandparents!
- He grew just enough to start fitting into some of the cute clothes we got from family and friends (it's crazy now to imagine that we started in premie clothes)!

My must haves for moms:
- A great swing! Max slept in his swing nearly every night this month.
- A carseat (travel system) with the clip in system! We have a chicco and its fabulous! You can buy them anywhere, we got ours at target, and buy extra bases online for other cars you use!
- A sound machine! Max loves noise :)
- A great breast pump! Make sure you can pump both sides at the same time with whatever you get, it is well worth it.
